About Tijuana
Tijuana
is many things: a sprawling city approaching two
million in population, a vibrant and prosperous
business center with many foreign-owned factories,
the main entry to the entire Baja California peninsula,
and much more.
Tijuana Mexico
Tijuana is the largest city in the Mexican state of Baja
California and the seat of the municipality of
Tijuana. As of February 20, 2007 the current president
of the surrounding municipality is businessman
Kurt Honold of the Institutional Revolutionary
Party (PRI).
Tijuana is the westernmost city in Latin America
(the westernmost Latin American population center
is located in Isla Guadalupe). The city is situated
on the U.S.-Mexico border adjacent to San Diego
County, California, United States to the north.
The city's motto is "Aquí Empieza
La Patria". The Mexican government's English
translation is "Gateway to Mexico,"
though the motto's literal English translation
is "The Homeland Starts Here." |
